Federation Square (known as ‘Fed Square’) has received a lot of both positive and negative comment for its architecture. It is one of the most significant recent architectural developments undertaken in Melbourne and is a spectacle of glass, steel and desert-coloured stone that catches the sun beautifully.

'Fed Square' hosts a number of major attractions, including the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI), The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia (the home of Australian Art). It’s also the major civic and cultural venue for Melbourne, hosting over 2,000 events and activities each year including Australia Day celebrations, the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival and the Melbourne Comedy Festival among many others. It’s also just a great place to hang out on a sunny day or enjoy a bite to eat at one of the many cafes around the square.
